Cape Crozier is located on the east end of Ross Island, Antarctica. It's the location of "The Worst Journey in the World" expedition, a winter journey made during Scott's Terra Nova Expedition by Wilson, Bowers and Cherry-Garrard in July 1911 to collect emperor penguin eggs before they hatched. The three men man hauled sledges from Cape Evans on the opposite side of Ross Island in the pitch dark -70 degree temperatures of the Antarctic winter to this location above Cape Crozier, and built a stone igloo for shelter. It was here that they were struck by a hurricane force blizzard that tore the canvas roof from the shelter and left them exposed to the blizzard for three days.
